Hayli May Cox holds a PhD in Creative Writing with a graduate minor in Women's and Gender Studies from The University of Missouri. She currently serves as Nonfiction Editor at Doubleback Review. As of Fall 2024, Hayli is Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Waldorf University in Iowa.

Hayli primarily writes hybrid work, speculative fiction, flash fiction, and creative nonfiction. Her work and art has been widely published online and in print and has won or been nominated for numerous awards. She is currently working on a story collection and two book projects. A Michigander by birth, in her free time Hayli paints, builds with Lego, critter watches, and hikes around with a backpack full of field guides and her little, leggy dog. ​

Hayli has previously served as Editorial and Publicity Assistant with Persea Books, Prose Editor at Heavy Feather Review, Assistant Nonfiction Editor at Sundog Lit, and Associate Nonfiction Editor Passages North.​
